Microsoft MVP Award

First of all, Happy New Year to everyone!

For me this year started great, so I wanted to look back and review events from 2015 that lead me here.

So everything starts with my job as System Engineer at Comp Group where I have opportunity to work on great projects and use latest technologies. As I like to learn new things, it’s great for me to be able to test latest tech and figure out how can it fit in our projects and improve our solutions.

My work with latest tech resulted with few lectures for MSCOMMUNITY BiH , user group whom I’m proud member of  for last few years. In February 2015 I had lecture MS SQL Server Administration Tips&Tricks, in July 2015 we had Windows 10 launch event where I talked about Managing Windows 10 with Azure Active Directory and in November 2015 I spoke about Azure RemoteApp.

Beside speaking for user group, I had opportunity to speak on few conferences. It started with Open at Microsoft that took place in Mostar in February 2015 where I had session Managing Linux Virtual Machines in Azure. In April 2015 I had great honor to speak at biggest IT conference in BiH MSNetwork that took place in Neum. In Neum I spoke about same subject as in Mostar, Managing Linux VM on Azure. In September 2015, MS Partner 2015 conference took place on Vlasi?. Here I had session on ITPro track, speaking about Windows 10 Integration with Azure Services. In October 2015 I took part in MS Community Conference with session Windows 10 Azure AD Integration. Last month of 2015 I was in Mostar as Techday 2015. At Techday I had 3 sessions on ITPro track where I talked about Azure Active Directory, Azure vNet, Azure Backup, Azure SQL and RemoteApp.

In June 2015 I became Microsoft P-Seller of SQL Server. Great honor that I wrote about here.

There is one project that I’m specially proud to be part of, MS Skills Centar. This project was intended for students and unemployed, and gave them chance to attend MOC (Microsoft Official Courseware) and pass MS Exam, everything for free. Project was started to give both groups better chance at employment by giving them MS Certification. Everything was started by Microsoft BiH and MSCommunity BiH, and it was later supported by Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Sarajevo, Faculty of Economics in Sarajevo, Faculty of Information Technology in Mostar and Apeiron University in Banja Luka. I took part as member of MSCommunity BiH and MCT, and taught 2 courses about MS SQL Server.

When I look back at 2015, it was a great year for me but it’s more important where it took me. Because of everything that took place in 2015, I had great start in 2016.

First email that I received in 2016 was:

Dear Mustafa Toroman,

Congratulations! We are pleased to present you with the 2016 Microsoft® MVP Award! This award is given to exceptional technical community leaders who actively share their high quality, real world expertise with others. We appreciate your outstanding contributions in Microsoft Azure technical communities during the past year.

I’m very honored to receive such a recognition for my work and to be even considered to be part of this. It makes me even more proud that I’m first in my country to receive MVP Award for Microsoft Azure. This was great start of new year and greatest gift ever. This will make me work even harder and learn even more to justify this award.
